Bellin Run Kickoff Events Slated for Feb. 20
February 9, 2018
9/11 rescue worker, athlete ‘Fireman Rob’ will be keynote speaker
An Air Force veteran, 9/11 rescue worker and record-setting athlete will headline the Bellin Run’s 2018 Corporate Challenge and Kids for Running kickoff events on Tuesday, Feb. 20 in the Legends Room at Lambeau Field.
Fireman Rob Verhelst encourages individuals and groups to ignite their mindsets, lives, leadership styles and businesses with his motivational addresses. He identifies seven principles that help people “run into the fires” of their lives.
“Fireman Rob brings an incredible energy to his audiences, and his message is perfect for our Corporate Challenge captains and Kids for Running coaches,” said executive race director Randy Van Straten. “These individuals make a tremendous contribution to community health and wellness by leading their respective groups, and we want to simultaneously thank and motivate them by bringing in a dynamite speaker.”
Verhelst, of Madison, calls upon his experience as a fireman and U.S. Air Force veteran, as well as his work at Ground Zero on 9/11, to connect with audiences. He is also a dedicated athlete who in 2015 broke the Guinness World Record for most Ironman 70.3 triathlons completed in one year (while wearing 50 lbs. of firefighting gear during the run portion of the events). Verhelst is an author, professional speaker, thought leader and philanthropist.
The Bellin Run Corporate Challenge is a program that challenges local companies in a fun and friendly participation- and timing-based competition. Program captains organize the Corporate Challenge at their respective locations, serving as the main point of contact and coordinating program details, training information and motivational messages. In 2017, the Corporate Challenge had teams from 255 area companies with nearly 6,000 total participants.
Registration and breakfast for the Corporate Challenge kickoff event begin at 7 a.m. Feb. 20, with the program and material pick-up running from 7:45-9:15. Registration is required by Feb. 16 at

Kids for Running coaches hold training sessions two to three times weekly, providing the structure and motivation necessary for their young athletes to go the distance on race day. Last year, the Kids for Running program drew nearly 1,500 students, staff and family members from 64 area elementary schools.
