Biggest Loser Celebs to Join the Bellin Run

March 5, 2010

“The Biggest Loser: Couples” celebrities Kristin Steede and Cathy Skell are confirmed participants in the 34th annual Bellin Run.

The 10K (6.2-mile) race will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 12. The race winds through the streets of Green Bay and the nearby village of Allouez.

The mother-daughter duo competed on last season’s nationally televised show – which centers on overweight contestants trying to lose weight for a cash prize. They had a good run but didn’t make it to the finals. However, Steede and Skell of Greenville and Shiocton, respectively, shed a combined 262 pounds and left the show feeling healthier and inspired by their experience.

Skell is expected to run the course while Steede walks it.

The mother-daughter duo recently spoke to attendees at the Bellin Run Corporate Challenge kickoff and at a similar event held for the Kids for Running program.

“It’s a bonus to have celebrity faces in the crowd,” said Bellin Run race director Randy VanStraten. “Participants at the Bellin Run typically rub elbows with elite runners from countries across the globe and mix it up with local, and occasionally, national celebrities. It’s really an event for everyone.”

A record-breaking 16,746 people registered for the Bellin Run in 2009 marking the fifth consecutive year the race has experienced record registration.
