Annual run/walk event offers option to gift a registration

Bellin Run organizers have a suggestion for shoppers still in search of that ever-elusive ultimate holiday gift – a paid registration to the 2013 Bellin Run 10K.

Online signup for the 37th annual run/walk event officially opened Monday. Returning this year is the ability to buy registrations for family, friends, co-workers and others.

“A paid registration to the 2013 Bellin Run is a unique gift especially for those already planning to take better control of their health and fitness in the coming year,” said executive race director Randy Van Straten. “Registering a loved one or a friend is a great way of helping them put some action behind their health and fitness aspirations.

“We’re excited to be able to continue to offer this healthy and unique gift idea in time for Christmas and New Year’s,” Van Straten said.

The Bellin Run will take place at 8 a.m., Saturday, June 8. The 6.2-mile run/walk through Green Bay and neighboring Allouez traditionally occurs on the second Saturday of June.

Adult online registration for the 2013 event is $20 through Wednesday, May 1. All registrants receive an official 2013-style Bellin Run T-shirt.

Online registration is easy, as is signing up a family member or friend. Visit the Bellin Run website at http://www.bellinrun.com to sign up and click on the tab labeled “Register Online.” Click the “Buy Registration as a Gift” tab and follow the instructions to sign up family or friends.

“It’s a great holiday gift and helps encourage Bellin Run participation by loved ones,” Van Straten said. “It’s also a perfect way to make sure health and fitness remain top of mind as we start making those New Year’s resolutions to get fit, reduce weight and make healthier lifestyle choices,” Van Straten said.

The 2012 Bellin Run recorded 18,428 registrants.
