A record-breaking 18,398 people registered for the 34th annual Bellin Run held earlier today in Green Bay, a race won by John Korir of Kenya with a time of 29:12.
With Saturday’s victory, Korir, who took second place last year after four consecutive victories, became the Bellin Run’s second five-time champion. Elite runner John Yuda will not be able to defend his 2009 Bellin Run title due to delays with his visa.
A native of Tanzania, Yuda was training with members of his running team in Kenya. The details of the travel delay are unknown, but Yuda remains in Kenya and will not be able to attend Saturday’s 10K (6.2-mile) event.
Yuda claimed his first overall Bellin Run title in 2009 with a time of 28:05, unseating four-time champion John Korir, who arrived in Green Bay earlier today for the event.
Race officials have no plans to replace Yuda with another…

Jared Fogle – the man made famous after losing weight by eating Subway sandwiches – is the latest celebrity to share plans to join the Bellin Run.
Fogle joins local celebs Kristin Steede and Cathy Skell of “The Biggest Loser: Couples” as nationally-known celebrities that have shared plans to participate in the 34th annual Bellin Run scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, June 12.
Fogle first gained national recognition in 2000 after losing 245 pounds by eating Subway sandwiches for lunch and dinner every day.
Bellin Run executive race director Randy Van Straten says the inclusion of celebrities like Fogle in…
New Blood Aplenty This Year
Veterans at the 2010 Bellin Run will have a lot of fresh, new company joining them this year. That’s because so far, registration numbers for the 34th annual event have revealed 4,498 Bellin Run first-timers.
According to figures released just this morning, total registration for the 8 a.m. Saturday, June 12 Bellin Run is at 11,454 people. On this date in 2009 – which saw record-breaking registration for the fifth-consecutive year – the Bellin Run had 9,326 registrants.
Organizers have said they are prepared for a sixth-consecutive year of record registration. Last year the Bellin…
The 34th annual Bellin Run is an all-inclusive event. It’s welcoming of all ability levels and caters to both the youthful and not so youthful.
Last year’s event drew 16,746 registrants, a record for the fifth consecutive year. This year could draw even more participants. That’s why Bellin Run organizers say they are encouraging runners and walkers alike to practice common sense safety measures and be courteous to ensure their personal well-being and the well-being of their fellow Bellin Run participants.
This year’s race is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, June 12.
“We’re all excited to participate in this yearly…

Patients who participated in Bellin’s Joints for Life, Cardiac Rehab or the Bellin Inpatient Rehabilitation programs will have the option of walking or running a shortened 1-mile route of the Bellin Run course or completing the entire 10K (6.2 miles).
The invite-only Back to the Road Crew program gets orthopedic, cardiac rehab and general rehab patients active again after medical treatment.
The program, hosted by Bellin Health, welcomed more than 250…
Organizers for the 34th annual Bellin Run say they aren’t actively encouraging growth, but having experienced five consecutive record registration years since 2004, they’re braced for a possible surge in registrant numbers this year.
As of Tuesday, May 4, registration totals for the 8 a.m. Saturday, June 12 Bellin Run were at 6,980 (with 2,539 first timers) compared to 4,424 during this same period last year. With those figures, organizers say the rapidly growing numbers of signups for the annual 10K (6.2-mile) run/walk through Green Bay and Allouez could approach record proportions – again.
Still, organizers say they are fully…
Establishing an appropriate course distance for a children’s run is a challenge.
You don’t want the route to be so long that youngest runners end up being carried to the finish or so short that the more athletic children are left feeling short-changed. To address this challenge, the 2010 Bellin Run Children’s Run will offer two courses, complete with separate start lines.
As with last year, the older children (ages 8-10), will run a full loop around Astor Park, a distance of approximately half a mile.
Younger children (ages 7 and under) will have their own start line on Porlier…
This year’s Bellin Run will offer Gatorade along the 6.2-mile course for the first time in the event’s 34-year history.
Although runners don’t necessarily need the sports drink to complete the race, Bellin Run organizers say they responded to popular demand when they decided to provide Gatorade along the race course.
Feedback from past participants suggested that something sweeter and more energizing than water might help runners and walkers cover the later, more demanding miles of the Bellin Run. For that reason, Gatorade will appear at the 3.1-mile marker along East River Drive.
Bellin Run officials say they expect the…
