Run & Fun Event is Friday, June 13
GREEN BAY — Kids 12 and younger will have their own time to shine at this year’s Bellin Run. The Johnson Bank Kids Run & Fun Event takes place on Friday, June 13 at Baird Place Park in conjunction with the Bellin Run Health Expo.
The “Fun” will include giant inflatable obstacle courses, family entertainment and treats. The “Run” is the Dick Lytie Children’s Run, an event that has grown to more than 700 participating kids since its early 1990s inception.
“As interest and participation in the Kids Run & Fun Event has expanded, so has the event,” said Randy Van Straten, Bellin Run race director. “The Children’s Run is a great opportunity for kids to showcase their running skills and celebrate their accomplishments. The event’s success shows just how much families are focusing on getting involved in healthy activities together.”
This year’s Children’s Run will feature two courses for children ages 12 and younger. The start will be at the intersection of Cass and Clay streets. The following is the schedule of kids’ runs:
6 p.m. Ages 4 and younger (1/4 mile)
6:15 p.m. Ages 5-6 (1/4 mile)
6:30 p.m. Ages 7-8 (1/2 mile)
6:45 p.m. Ages 9-10 (1/2 mile)
7 p.m. Ages 11-12 (1/2 mile)
All children will receive a T-shirt and award courtesy of Johnson Bank, and a finishing gift courtesy of Women’s Specialty Care. The Dick Lytie Children’s Run is a non-competitive fun run where all participants are winners.
The Bellin Run, a 10K (6.2 mile) run/walk in Green Bay, Wis., is the fourth-largest timed 10K race in the nation with 12,908 participants. Established in 1977, the Bellin Run features elite runners, a children’s run, corporate challenge, running expo, all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner and a number of other events and activities for runners and their families.
