Twenty-two runners to participate in their 32nd Bellin Run
GREEN BAY — More than 13,000 runners are expected to cross the finish line at this year’s Bellin Run, but only 22 can say they’ve crossed it every year since the race started in 1977. This exclusive group has been dubbed the “Bellin Run Legends,” and its members are gearing up for their 32nd Bellin Run on June 14.
“It’s a major accomplishment to be in such great physical shape to keep coming back every year,” said Randy Van Straten, Bellin Run race director. “Their participation says a lot about them personally, but it also says a lot about the Green Bay area and the Bellin Run as well.”
Legends from Wisconsin cities like Green Bay, Seymour, Appleton, Menomonee Falls, Luxemburg, Madison, Hayward and Pittsville rally together each year for the annual 10K (6.2 mile) run through the streets of Green Bay and Allouez.
“I really enjoy the physical challenge of the Bellin Run, but I also look forward to the atmosphere,” said Pete Knox, a Bellin Run Legend from Luxemburg. “It’s great to see familiar faces each year and enjoy the camaraderie of being in one place at one time with so many individuals who are running or walking with their own personal goals in mind.”
The Legends will be joining elite runners, everyday runners, dedicated walkers, experienced wheelchair racers and young running enthusiasts at the Bellin Run starting line at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 14. For more information, check out the Bellin Run Web site at www.bellinrun.com.
