Run, Fun and Family

Bellin Run offers weekend events for all ages

GREEN BAY — At the 32nd annual Bellin Run, there’s much more to the race than the race itself.  Fun events for the entire family will take place all weekend.

“The Bellin Run brings families together in an event where both parents and their children can share in the fun,” said Randy Van Straten, Bellin Run race director.  “It’s a great way for families to spend time together while getting good exercise.”

Race weekend kicks off on Friday, June 13, with the Johnson Bank and Johnson Insurance Kids Run & Fun Event.  Friday night attractions for families include inflatable obstacle courses at Baird Place Park, children’s games, face painting, free ice cream and live, local entertainment on the Northern Electric awards stage including gymnastics, Karate and step dancing and tap dancing demonstrations.

Children’s entertainer Randy Peterson will perform from 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Dick Lytie Children’s Run will be held Friday at 6 p.m.  More than 700 kids are expected to participate in this non-competitive event consisting of two courses for children ages 4 through 12.

All children will receive a T-shirt and award courtesy of Johnson Bank, and a finishing gift courtesy of Women’s Specialty Care.  The cost of the Children’s Run is $5.  Children can be registered up to race time.

Also on Friday, the all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner, sponsored by the Martzahl Group at Citi/Smith Barney, will be served to runners and their families from 4:30 to 8 p.m. in the 725 Webster Ave. Medical Building parking lot, across the street from Bellin Hospital.  The meal costs $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.

The Bellin Run starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, and is open to adults and children of all ages.  Youth divisions offer kids the opportunity to take part in the race alongside parents, siblings and friends.

Parents needing childcare also have options on race day.

“Childcare will be available in the Medical Building for parents who are participating in the 10K event,” said Van Straten.  If interested in using this service, please pre-register by calling (920) 433-7444.
