Bellin Run introduces family reunite area to this year’s event
GREEN BAY — Looking for a family member among 15,000 race participants, volunteers and spectators can be like finding a needle in a haystack. Not this year.
Bellin Run race officials have implemented the Children & Families Meeting Area, sponsored by the Schneider National Foundation, for families who need to connect after the 10K. The meeting area will feature an orange semi-trailer, a trademark truck from Schneider National.
“With so many families participating in the Bellin Run, we wanted to alleviate some of the stress of locating family members,” said Randy Van Straten, Bellin Run race director. “With the semi from Schneider National, parents and their children can easily reconnect and celebrate their accomplishments at ‘the big orange truck.’ ”
The race will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 14. Volunteers and race personnel will staff the family meeting area and help participants get reconnected with family and friends. The truck will also serve as a lost and found area for people of all ages on Friday evening, June 13 at the Johnson Bank & Johnson Insurance Kids Run & Fun Event, All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner and Health Expo.
“Lifelong health and family fitness are important to our communities, not just our kids,” said Jean VandenLangenberg, community connect (volunteer) coordinator at Schneider. “The Schneider National Foundation has been fortunate enough to be the sponsor of the Bellin Run Kids for Running program this year. These children who have been working so hard to reach their goals will now have an area and a temporary landmark to reunite with their parents after the race to share their experiences.”
The family meeting area will be located in Baird Place Park along Webster Avenue:
