Holiday shoppers can gift registration for 40th annual 10K run/walk

Holiday shoppers looking to give the gift of wellness can wrap up a paid registration for the 2016 Bellin Run.

Online registration for Green Bay’s iconic 10K run/walk is open, and organizers are busy preparing for the event’s milestone 40th year. In the meantime, runners and walkers can start their New Year’s resolutions early by making a commitment to fitness — and this great community event — in 2016.

“The holidays can be a time of indulgence, but signing up for the Bellin Run will help you start the New Year off right,” said executive race director Randy Van Straten. “Whether you’re a past participant or a brand-new runner or walker, we encourage you to set the goal now to join us in 2016. While you’re at it, consider gifting a registration to friends or family members. It’s a wonderful way to support their health and wellbeing.”

Bellin Run participants are in for a special experience as the race celebrates four decades of promoting health and community wellness in Northeastern Wisconsin. All 2016 runners and walkers will receive an official Bellin Run technical T-shirt, which is a change from past years when participants had to pay more to upgrade from a cotton to a technical T-shirt. Participants also will receive finisher medals, which are handed out every five years.

“We’re doing it up big for our big 4-0,” said assistant race director Linda Maxwell. “In addition to the tech shirts and finisher medals, we’ll be unveiling some great surprises and celebrations to mark four decades. If you’ve been on the fence about running the Bellin, this is your year.”

The 40th annual Bellin Run will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 11. The 6.2-mile run/walk through Green Bay and Allouez traditionally occurs on the second Saturday of June.

Early registration is $25, and signing up is easy. Visit the Bellin Run website at www.bellinrun.com and click “Register Online.” Click the “Buy Registration as a Gift” tab and follow the instructions to purchase a registration for family or friends.

The 39th annual Bellin Run recorded 16,539 registrants. Additional information is available at www.bellinrun.com.
