Running Program Encourages Kids to Get Moving

March 30, 2010

Bellin Run organizers are connecting school coaches and young runners with a web-based program for use in training for the Bellin Run.

The program, Just Run, will aid students participating in the Bellin Run Kids for Running training sessions. The Just Run program won a gold medal from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

Two Just Run informational sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, March 31 at Bellin College, 3201 Eaton Road, Bellevue. The sessions – one at 4:30 p.m. and the other at 6:30 p.m. – will feature presentations by Just Run administrator Susan Love. Representatives from more than 20 schools are expected to attend the event.

More than 2,660 kids and trainers from 41 area schools took part in last year’s Bellin Run Kids for Running program. That number is expected to increase this year, organizers say.
