Elite Field, Friday Event Revamp Announced for 2023 Bellin Run
May 22, 2023
Defending Bellin Run champions Risper Gesabwa and Jared Ward will headline an impressive field of elite athletes competing in the 47th annual Bellin Run on Saturday, June 10.
Gesabwa added another title to her unparalleled Bellin Run resume in 2022, crossing the line first for the eighth time in her career. Returning to the Bellin Run but not racing competitively due to injury is 2017 champ Kaitlin Gregg Goodman.
On the men’s side, Jared Ward will attempt to capture his fourth-consecutive Bellin Run victory after winning the event in 2022. Ward will again be challenged by past Bellin Run champ Brendan Gregg, who was second in 2019 and 2022 after winning the event in 2017 and 2018.
This year’s Bellin Run elite field will also welcome the return of notable veteran Uta Pippig, who became a world-renowned runner after winning three consecutive Boston Marathons and the New York City Marathon. Her list of accomplishments also includes a Bellin Run title she claimed in 1995.
Community members and myTEAM TRIUMPH athletes and support teams will have the opportunity to run alongside these incredible athletes in this year’s TRIUMPH Mile of Greatness on Friday, June 9 at 5 p.m. This revamped Friday event combines two race weekend favorites — the TRIUMPH Mile and Run with Greatness. The goal of this event is to provide a health-enhancing and mentor-building opportunity for individuals with disabilities by using a team-based endurance athletic approach. All are welcome to join in the fun and, if able, encouraged to donate to myTEAM TRIUMPH’s deserving cause during the event. Participants are invited to look for individuals with collection jugs or contribute online if they wish to donate. Learn more at www.myteamtriumph-wi.org.

This is my 1st Bellin Health 10K. 2023 is my “bucket list” year after 3 long years of Covid. Besides Bellin 10K, my list has included (so far I have completed) directing a 5K race in Baraboo, making my stage debut with a local theater group and returning to run the Eau Claire Marathon. My “Big” item is to train and complete the Mount Shasta Sprint Triathlon in California on Sept. 3rd. (Day before my 60th birthday).
Thanks for allowing me to comment. Can’t wait to run with 7,000 of my closest friends on June 10th.
