Run a Better Bellin Sessions Offer Free Training Boosts

April 30, 2012

If you’re in need of some variation in your training for the 2012 Bellin Run, you’re in luck. The annual race has been offering a free training program since March geared toward runners and walkers.

The weekly Run a Better Bellin training sessions are open to anyone looking to physically prepare for the upcoming run. No registration is required and participants can attend as many or as few sessions as they like. There is no commitment.

The free training sessions meet at 6 p.m. every Wednesday through race week. Runners and walkers meet at Bellin Health’s Green Bay Health & Athletic Performance Center, 1630 Commanche Ave., Green Bay, (west reception area). Runners, walkers, beginners and those more experienced are all welcome to join.

The sessions attract an estimated 100 people each Wednesday so you’ll have lots of company. Sessions typically begin with a 10-minute informational talk on a variety of training topics including warm-ups, shoe fitting, plyometrics, nutrition and more.

The sessions, about halfway through, started off with 1-mile training runs and will work up to 6 miles by race week.
