Take advantage of free Bellin Run training classes

May 4, 2011

Many Bellin Run hopefuls are already adding variety to their training efforts by joining the weekly Run a Better Bellin sessions.

The free training sessions meet at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday through race week. Runners and walkers meet at Bellin Health’s Green Bay Health & Athletic Performance Center, 1630 Commanche Ave., Green Bay, (west reception area). Runners, walkers, beginners and those more experienced are all welcome to join.

The sessions begin with a 10-minute informational talk on a variety of training topics, including: warm-ups; flexibility; shoe fitting; plyometrics; nutrition; and more.

The sessions, now nearly halfway through, started off with 1-mile training runs and will work up to 6 miles by race week.

The sessions attract an average of 40-100 people each Wednesday. Participants can attend as many or as few sessions as they like. There is no commitment.

A cross-training program at Bellin Health’s Bellevue Fitness Center is another option for Bellin Run hopefuls looking to add a little variety to their training routines.

Bellin’s XL Athletic Performance experts have been instructing Bellin Run participants each Monday at 6:30 p.m. on the proper techniques for warm-ups, core strengthening, plyometric training, runner strength training, and cool-downs.

Those classes – taking place at 3263 Eaton Road in Bellevue – will end on May 16.
